In this role I worked as both a curriculum specialist as well as a mentor for a first-year teacher. This school was created to help students maintain a safe learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as receive a quality education. As a consultant, I:-selected and developed an appropriate, research based and rigorous curriculum for the first grade students-evaluated student achievement and progress, and helped adapt the curriculum pacing guide to meet their individual needs-coached a new teacher in most effective classroom practices-modeled student-centered teaching as well as facilitate collaborative Project Based Learning experiences

In this role I was a part of the content creation team responsible for leading the effort to create original content for use in a professional learning course available to educators nationwide. I made recommendations on course structure based on expertise in instructional design. Designed, edited, and published original video content according to client specifications and branding guidelines.

As a Moise A. Khayrallah Fellow, I worked collaboratively with my fellowship team to design and develop an online resource for North Carolina teachers to facilitate the integration of the newly-adopted International Society for Technology Education's (ISTE) Student Standards. This site, EdTech Connect NC, seeks to help NC teachers find and integrate free, educational technology and teaching strategies in their classroom: iste.web.unc.edu [Launched April, 2021].

In this role I worked cross-functionally with the Department of Distance Education and eLearning (DEeL) and directly with an Associate Professor in the Watson College of Education. I assisted, created and taught content, designing more effective and engaging online instruction and developing ongoing resources for the professor to use during instruction. Within DEeL, I worked on developing an improved process for evaluating and awarding faculty members for effective and innovation online teaching.

While my primary role was classroom teacher (Kindergarten, First and Fifth grade), I also assumed other roles at the school as well. -I was grade level chair for 2 years; acted as liaison between administration and the Kindergarten team, planned and facilitated grade level meetings and curriculum planning sessions, planned field trips, created and translated (from English to Spanish) written and verbal communication to parents and acted as overall representative of the Kindergarten team. -I was in charge of the school's yearbook from 2013-2019; served as lead photographer, coordinated with other teachers to attain pictures and memories from each of their classrooms and clubs, negotiated contract and costs with the yearbook development company, designed and edited layouts on online publishing program and promoted and distributed all yearbooks -I was the K-2 Powerschool Trainer; trained the Kindergarten through Second Grade teachers at our school in the Powerschool online grading program and acted as support when necessary.
