The Maine School Garden Network is a non-profit organization committed to promoting and supporting educational gardens for youth, and to encourage school programs which teach healthy eating and environmental stewardship. I planned and administered events, visits, education, support and outreach for over 130 schools throughout the state. I collaboratedwith our Board of agricultural professionals and organizations such as Maine Farm to School, Maine Agriculture in the Classroom and FoodCorps. The work and collaborations are critical to connecting Maine school gardens to the resources they need to thrive.

Manage pest and disease risks of tomatoes within 42 acres of state of the art hydroponic greenhouse facilities. Pest and disease identification, training, data analysis and presentation, risk assessment, implementing various controls under IPM are major facets of my position at Backyard Farms. I enjoy working with the scientific agricultural community at large to devise new and creative ways to diagnose and control pests and diseases in order to provide a high quality nutritious local product. My work at Backyard Farms began with initiating the food safety and GAP program and the IPM Department. Since establishment both the food safety and IPM have achieved some of the highest industry standards. Growing a team of technical experts and working through challenges collaboratively were rewarding elements of this work.

Conduct and analyze bio assay studies to determine environmental impact of waste water. Test and report the quality of drinking water.

Identified and quantified forest types according to parameters developed by the Maine Natural Areas Program. Used fauna and flora indicators to map and identify rare habitats for preservation.
