Erika Lyn Smith is a creative artist, photographer, author and child safety advocate. As an independent author, she writes to educate the public, parents, caregivers and children, about the dangers children face daily with the advancements in electronic media, and human sex trafficking. Erika Lyn has 25 years of writing and editing experience and writes independently for different sources on the internet, with publications online and in print. Erika Lyn Smith is the Editor of BellaOnline's Missing and Exploited Children website since 2006. Earlier this month Erika Lyn accepted the Editor Position for BellaOnline's Child Abuse site. However, one of her true passions is in researching and writing Forensic Science/Medicine articles. This passion powered when she completed Saint Louis University School of Medicine's Medicolegal Death Investigators Training Course in the summer of 2006. Her goal is to finish her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2015. Erika Lyn Smith loves working as a Behavioral Health RN and Clinical Support Nurse (CSN) for SSM Healthcare and is the ECT Nurse Coordinator for the ECT department. Erika has 16+ years of experience working in Behavioral Medicine, including 10 years working with children and adolescents in both a long-term residential care setting and hospital based crisis stabilization unit. As a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), Erika Lyn is skilled in assessing and processing court mandated or doctor ordered involuntary civil detentions for persons who are a threat to themselves or others. She is also a notary for the state of Missouri. Ultimately, in the nursing field Erika Lyn believes it is never acceptable to say “that is not in my job description” if it happens on your shift it is your responsibility. As a nurse, Erika Lyn believes you do not need to have all of the answers, but you must know how to utilize all of the available resources to find the answer.Specialties: One day after I have become proficient in portrait photography I would like to become involved with a group that takes pictures of families as they say goodbye to their baby before being able to say hello. I would love to help families document the life of their infant. As Dr. Seuss said, “a person is a person no matter how small” and all life is precious regardless of the length of time spent here.
