Passionate, driven, and not one to back down from a challenge, I strive to create opportunities for others to recognize their full potential. Prior to founding one of Haiti's only mental health organizations, I saw the challenges that trauma, abuse, and poverty created for my students during my five years as a classroom teacher. This led me to increase my own knowledge and skills in mental health education, advocacy, and services and apply it in a variety of settings including schools, orphanages, hospitals, homes, and centers around the globe. As Espere Community Counseling Center's Executive Director, my vision to build awareness and increase access to mental health support throughout Haiti has led to over 500 children and adults throughout Haiti access to mental health services with even more learning about mental health through a variety of awareness-raising initiatives. Since 2014, I have led Espere in tripling its budget through fundraising and partnership building, expand our inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services, and see a significant decrease in mental health symptoms of those we serve. Capacity-building and sustainability are always at the forefront of what I do to ensure longevity and improved quality of care in our programming.I plan to use my education and mental health background and my vision-setting and team management strengths to continue expanding the depth and reach of services in the next phase of my career.
