I am an experienced communications professional with a strong background in executive visibility, media relations, executive communications, digital media, social media and crisis communications. Currently, as Director, Corporate Communications at Blue Shield of California, I lead a team of individuals who support all communications, external and internal, for our consumer, commercial markets, Medicare and Medi-Cal lines of business. This includes leading the executive visibility for the CEO of Medi-Cal, Chief Growth Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and Blue Shield President. Prior to my current role, I was a member of the corporate global media relations team at Chevron, supporting CEO communications and content creation. Serving as a corporate spokesperson, I was responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating a strategic media and communication plan to promote business objectives. Prior to my work at Chevron, I held multiple journalism roles at NBC and CBS stations throughout the country, including San Francisco and Boston. As a former special projects producer, I was responsible for conducting investigations, producing consumer segments and participating in hidden camera work. I have earned two Emmy Awards for my work as a journalist and earned an Edward R. Murrow award, recognizing news stories that uphold the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Code of Ethics, demonstrating echnical expertise and exemplifying the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community.I have a B.A. degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a M.S. degreein Broadcast Journalism from Boston University. With a passion for education, I am a former adjunct faculty member at the College of Southern Nevada.As an outdoor enthusiast, I ran the Boston Marathon in 2019 to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of a close friend. I have completed more than a dozen additional runs, including half-marathons in Colorado and California and participated in Spartan events.
