Do you know how your body keeps trying to tell you something, and if you don't listen it has the funnest way of getting your attention? Well I have found the universe is the same way. I am finally listening. I have switched careers completely. I am now getting my special education teaching credential (one semester to go at CSUF) and already working with mild/mod and extensive needs students. It is the hardest work I have ever done. But also the most fulfilling. I am also working for my local Boys & Girls Club as a Resource Development Officer - meaning I am the one calling and writing to businesses and community leaders trying to form new partnerships for the Club. The Boys & Girls Club really does offer amazing character-building and leadership development programs for our members - the majority of whom come from low-income and under-served environments. I am very proud to do what I can to help.The new jobs are not prestigious. They are not on the top rungs of my former career ladder. And God knows they don't pay quite the same. BUT, I go to sleep every single night knowing I have made a real and meaningful impact on a child - and that is priceless.
