Working as an Interpretive Naturalist requires a sponge-like brain. It is our job to absorb information, correlate it into knowledge, and then communicate it to any age group in an accurate, educational, and inspiring manner. We are a variety of teacher unlike any other, and I view our mission as one of the most important in a world that takes all of us working together to survive. But beyond providing programs, no one naturalist has the same position expectations as another. Each place which hires us has unique factors. One park might have a lake, dunes, or endangered venomous snakes, or raptors, and so on!

I applied for this position in an attempt to get closer to nature. It was in the woods in a state park, after all! While it wasn't what I expected, I learned much about hotel and lodging systems, and what it takes to keep them working. The software, teamwork, cash flow, housekeeping, and additional services beyond lodging (such as entertainment centers and wedding catering) all come together to provide recreation opportunities. That all of this was close to nature was still the key, because it was here I met one of the naturalists working for the DNR in the park. I saw what they were doing and a spark caught fire in my soul. That was the path forward, made clear, and the reason I had to move on from the Abe Martin Lodge - because I applied and got the position that called to me more than anything ever had. I would still visit the lodge every Sunday as a naturalist doing an educational booth in front of that desk, waving to friends still working there.

This Bistro is a nice area similar to a restaurant that is built into the very large J928 Kroger. Associates were what made the job move forward, and I enjoyed their company between customers. This Starbucks is built into the very large J928 Kroger. The service was fast-paced and the lounge area is a popular spot for students to study before stocking up on grocery supplies. Even though I was promptly relocated to the Bistro by management after several weeks at this station, I enjoyed getting to know my fellow baristas, who I hope achieve their dreams.
