The Volunteer and Corporate Engagement Coordinator manages and acts as the key contact point for volunteering and corporate engagement opportunities across Uniting WA. They work with Senior Managers and Team Leaders to identify service specific volunteer requirements and attract, recruit and retain appropriate volunteers. In conjunction with People Services and Service Delivery Teams they develop training tools and resources for staff and volunteers that appropriately develop and support volunteers. The Volunteer and Corporate Engagement Coordinator also supports the running of the “Recipes For Change” program.As well as overseeing the running of the Volunteer databases, they evaluate all aspects of corporate and community volunteering programs and activities and directly manage volunteers who support the Engagement Team. The Volunteer and Corporate Engagement Coordinator also supports the manager of community engagement with community events, public appearances, presentations and general representation. They also review and maintain relevant policies and procedures ensuring they meet the Volunteering Australia National Standards, legislative and organisational requirements as well as Uniting risk management systems.

Daily operation and management of the Tranby Engagement Hub where we provide an engagement and referral service for people who are experiencing homelessness in and around the City of Perth.Our team provide essential services such as showers, food, and clothing to rough sleepers and those experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness, servicing approximately 300 participants a day. We also work 1 on 1 to understand their individual needs and support them to access the services that are right for them.We support clients to develop the capacity and skills they need to move from crisis towards secure, long-term accommodation. We also partner with visiting agencies to provide medical, legal, counselling and advocacy services.

The City of Stirling Assertive Outreach Team connect and build trust with people who are sleeping rough in the City of Stirling. We support and work with them towards securing stable and long-term accommodation. A Tenancy Support Worker works to provide property and tenancy support for clients with complex needs and provide case management to those needing additional support.

As a Support Worker my goal is to deliver trauma-informed support to individuals and families experiencing crisis due to homelessness.

The aim for Uniting Outreach Workers is to build rapport with rough sleepers and people experiencing chronic homelessness, linking them in with appropriate services to break the cycle of their homelessness. Outreach Workers aim to gain trust through consistent engagement, leading to advice and referrals to relevant internal and external services for assistance as appropriate.

As Acting Service Lead I managed Koort Boodja, a crisis accommodation service, as well as the Street to Home Outreach service.

This was a unique opportunity to be a part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team in the Homeless Sector. I helped to deliver an intensive person-centred support to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness during a Hospital or Medical Respite Centre admission.
