My background is physics. I have five years of experience in the Philips Research labs, about four years at Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care as product manager and new business development director and since 2000 I am a serial entrepreneur. The first start-up was Pam bv. This company has invented, developed, produced and marketed the smallest and most easy-to-use activity monitor on the market back in 2000, the Pam (www.pam.com). Many years later, Pam is still at the forefront of activity monitoring, despite the many new players in this growing field. My overall interest and passion is innovation in both technology as business models, and preferably a combination of the two. After Pam, I (co-)started a few other companies: Embedded Sensor Solutions that develops and produces various small sensor based wireless devices in the sport area; SensoTerra, a company that develops and produces wireless soil moisture sensors; SafeDrivePod, a close-looped proposition that prevents car drivers from using their phone during driving (except hands-free calls).
