In this role, Erik is helping the company with legal support, contract negotiations, litigation management, and strategic & regulatory advice while acting as SPOC for regulatory authorities. He actively contributes to the business as part of the management team. Projects include #connectivity, #VHCN, #NGN, #NGA, #access, #darkfiber, #IRU, #5G, #FTTH, #FTTS, @FTTx, #ethernet in #B2B.

Contributed to revenue growth (from €2M to near €20M) and shareholder value in managing Legal & Regulatory Affairs team with worldwide responsibility, including:- Leadership with P&L responsibility & people management overseeing a team of 4 qualified lawyers and paralegals.- SPOC for all National Regulatory Authorities and Numbering Administrations worldwide;- Securing licenses and numbering resources in +50 countries worldwide;- Ensuring regulatory compliance in +50 countries in the field of communication services;- Successful implementing SS7 interconnection agreements with all major incumbents in Europe (BT, Belgacom, FT, DT, PT, Telefonica, Telecom Italia, Eircom, EPT);- Securing major customer transactions (including multiple worldwide tier 1 carriers, service providers and multi-national corporations);- Advising on company strategy, compliance, risk management, IPR, managing and SPOC for all outside counsel, managing all litigation.- As Sector Member of the ITU-T, managed to obtain shared country code +883 5100 for Voxbone.- Founding Member of VON Europe; - Advocacy through international coalitions such as VON coalition, ECTA, ITSPA, GSMA and i3Forum.

Managing Legal Affairs with global responsibility, including:• Managing and coordinating corporate transactions (incorporation of new companies, capital increases, restructuring); • Financial law (corporate loan facility);• Risk management and prevention, supervising and co-ordination of litigation with outside counsel;• Legal support to commercial transactions, contract drafting and negotiation (development of integrated circuits)• Advising on strategic decisions and construction of new deals;• Advising on compliance with applicable legislation and internal rules and policies;• Protection and preservation of company rights and interests.

Contributed to growth of the company to become the first profitable new entrant on the Belgian telecom market:• Member of pan-European Legal Affairs and Regulatory Affairs team• Providing for legal support to international and national commercial transactions;• Contract drafting and negotiation of general commercial contracts (such as lease, teaming, alliance, option) and telecom services contracts in particular (interconnection, master services, wholesales, traffic exchange, lease dark fibre and IRU);• Advising to strategic decisions and construction of new deals (competition and corporate law issues); advising on compliance with applicable legislation and internal rules and policies; supervising and co-ordination of litigation with outside counsel;• Advocating for a political and legal environment to maximise competitive advantage and operating performance, e.g. with regard to universal service, voice over IP, new regulatory framework, broadband access and unbundling of the local loop, price squeeze, fixed to mobile, number portability, interconnection, leased lines and approval of the yearly Reference Interconnection Offer. • Involvement in industry forum workshops and joint OLO negotiation teams (president of number portability joint negotiation team for non-geographic numbers).• SPOC for the BIPT/IBPT (the Belgian telecommunications regulator), the Minister of Telecommunications, the European Commission, the Competition Council and industry representative groups such as the Platform of telecom operators and service providers. Contacts include the European Commission, trade associations, and other operators and consumer groups.

Managing EDS (now HP) Legal Affairs in Belgium and Luxembourg (150M USD), including:• Providing for legal support to commercial transactions (member of internal qualification process team, involvement proposal teams, risk assessments);• Contract drafting, negotiation and administration, particularly in IT services contracts (outsourcing, business process management, facilities management, systems development and integration, consulting, licensing, maintenance and professional services), but also in matters such as telecommunication and leasing;• Advising to strategic decisions and construction of new deals;• Mergers and acquisitions and integration of assets and liabilities into local legal entities (asset transfer);• Advising on compliance with applicable legislation and internal rules and policies;• Protection and preservation of company rights and interests;• Corporate housekeeping of all EDS entities in Belgium and Luxembourg;• Supervising and co-ordination of litigation with outside counsel;• Involvement in European projects (EMU, Y2K…).
