Erik Prince is a Principal at ATLAS Lab Inc. and a guiding force of the firm’s advocacy for culturally and ecologically responsive design. Erik translates strategic planning into experiential design, integrating regional natural systems and evoking local history into design work across the firm. His design talent and leadership are distinguished in the profession with expertise in planning for resilience, building urban parks, and using innovative fabrication techniques in construction. Prior to joining Atlas Lab, he was a Principal at TLS leading the Boulder Civic Area Master Plan and the multidisciplinary team Common Ground in the Grand Bayway project in the North Bay for the Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge. With Atlas Lab, he continues the Grand Bayway planning work with support from a BARC and a Caltrans SB1 Planning Adaptation Grant. He led Atlas Lab’s work on the Sacramento Waterfront for the City of Sacramento and is currently working on the Aggie Square Innovation District and R Street West - projects that aim to generate positive resilience and healthy urban space across Sacramento.Erik is a Lecturer at UC Berkeley, with previous experience teaching planting design, planning and urban design at Northeastern University. He holds a BS in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University. He graduated with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Masters of Landscape Architecture, and awarded the Jacob Weidenmann Prize, the Department of Landscape Architecture’s highest award for design. He is a licensed Landscape Architect in Colorado and California.
