Oversees and manages the design, development, and successful implementation of injection molding, fixturing, and automation design projects into production. Acts as the single point of contact for customer communication, satisfaction and for relaying all customer requirements in a team environment. Coordinates the operations of multiple departments to achieve successful and efficient manufacturing and work cell layout. Facilities Design for Manufacturability (DFM) of molded components as well as assembly products, working with material/supplier sourcing, manufacturing engineering, and quality departments. Develops validation strategies for new products, product transfers and/or process improvements. Initiates Engineering Change Requests (ECO) at product launch, throughout the duration of the project, and release to production. Creates and controls project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project Gantt charts, action plans, status updates, and budge tracking controls. Responsible for project budget and cost control, generates customer quotes for engineering services, equipment, product pricing, and mold tooling.

Member of the executive leadership team. Manage, support and provide leadership to the engineering and QA departments. Responsible for project management, project delivery, cost control and customer satisfaction. Work closely with Product Marketing, Sourcing, Marcom, Finance and the Operations departments. Develop and implement policy and procedures as well as resource planning and budgeting. Chair of the Change Control Board and owner of the Engineering Change Order process. Responsible for key functions of the Product New Development and Product Lifecycle Management, VA/VE, QFD, DFM/DFA, project performance metrics and commercialization. Responsible for all product IP and certifications including UL, ANSI/BIFMA and GREENGUARD.Key Accomplishments:- Established and led a cross functional team to achieve BIFMA LEVEL® certification which is a product, manufacturing and corporate sustainability standard.- Created an End of Life process to ensure organizational cost efficiency by feeding key product discontinuation information into the Sales & Operations Planning process.- Issued U.S. Patent 9,655,445 entitled: “Table Benching Apparatus and Methods of Using the Same”.

Supervised and coordinated all activities of the Research & Development department and Machine/Model shop. Prioritized and assigned project activities to Project Manager, four Project Engineers, CAD Draftsperson, and two Machinists/Model makers. Responsible for reporting project progress and identifying key issues for management. Developed and implemented policies and procedures as well as resource planning and budgeting. Product Management responsibilities included product/project definition, competitive analysis, cost/margin analysis and interfacing with the Marcom department.Key Accomplishments:- Responsible for the transfer and validation of injection molding process from Switzerland.- Selection and implementation of production equipment including 30-ton over mold machine, semi-automated pad-printing machine and other automated assembly equipment.- Developed a proprietary project management database used to define work breakdown structures, track project actions and report project progress.

Supervise and coordinate all activities in Research and Development department. Organize and delegate project activities to two Project engineers, two technicians and one CAD drafts person.

Manage engineering projects from customer requirements to production. Performed testing, qualification and validation of prototypes and preproduction. Developed test plans, perform data analysis and author test reports. Versed in the use of DMFEA and other design / production analysis tools. Machined and molded part design. 2D drawing, 3D models, bill of material creation. Organized and initiated engineering change orders. Design of tools and fixtures for production. Specify material and process with vendors and suppliers.

Design, development and modification of both new and existing products. Provide technical support and advice on new products, concepts and projects. Provide technical assistance to other departments as required. Assist Quality Assurance in troubleshooting and problem analysis. Prepare technical reports and articles as needed. Develop, implement and train personnel to required procedures (work instructions). Perform validation and verification of design and development projects. Effectively transfers new or modified processes and products into manufacturing.

Senior Project:Group leader of a design team dedicated to building an autonomous walking quadruped robot capable of traversing uneven terrain. Project included the selection of the robot's electronic components including a PIC microcontroller and stepper motor drives as well as the design and manufacturing of legs and chassis. Control Systems Laboratory (ME201/ECE295):Design and implement a Control Systems laboratory using a servomotor and drive/controller. Used a signal analyzer and the logarithmic decrement method to approximate the systems' transfer function and "tune" the system. Wrote lab procedure and manual as well as instructed class.Advanced Vehicle Research and Development:Director of electric vehicle project for year 2000-2002. Leadership roll includes the organization of group meetings and special events, fundraising, gathering sponsor support, and promoting the project on-campus and in the community. Group work includes the installation of new data acquisition unit, troubleshooting and analysis of vehicle components, and overall vehicle performance.

New and existing product support for motion control and automation equipment mfg. New product support includes motor and drive sizing, system configuration, drive/controller programming, and Human-Machine Interfaces. Existing product support includes system troubleshooting, cross reference sizing, and legacy support.

Three weeks of training on motion control theory and equipment including brush-less servo and stepper motors, drives/controllers, software, multi-axis systems and their applications. The remainder was devoted to technical support including troubleshooting of new and existing applications as well as new application design.
