Since serving the state of Iowa, Mr. Helland has been active educating consumers and policy makers on modern farming techniques and working with agriculture groups in multiple states to address agriculture issues. Prior to and while serving in the Iowa Legislature, Mr. Helland worked at West Bank in West Des Moines, Iowa as a Bank Secrecy Act Officer and Compliance Officer. Mr. Helland spent his early life on a seventh-generation grain and hog farm in central Iowa. After receiving a B.A. in biochemistry, he attended Drake University Law School and received his J.D. in 2009.
