Entrepreneurship. Technology. Troubleshooting. Building what's next. Fixing the rest. Always looking for problems to solve and people to help. Particularly interested in backend, frontend or full-stack software development.Since the BBS era of the 80's I've had computing technology in my blood. I started the 2000's helping to run a massive (at the time) 250+ attendee monthly "LAN party" while setting up Linux web/domain servers and building PHP/MySQL web apps for small business clients. In '09 I moved on to work in retail computer repair before leaving the tech world to focus on building a photography business. This full-time photo business focused on documenting hundreds of local and touring bands for local papers and national/international magazines with a secondary focus on commercial event and ad photography. Clients have included publications from City Pages to NME, recording artists, record labels, venues, museums, festivals and ad agencies building work for clients like PepsiCo, Bushmills Whisky, and more. In mid-2014, with tech work occupying most of my time, I retired from the world of photography although I still do occasional work for old clients here and there. In 2013 I returned to the tech world full time. I joined Code42's support team and, eventually, their engineering/R&D team as a software engineer. Work at Code42 included evaluation, deployment and implementation of APM tooling, deep Java debugging, code fixes for emerging issues, regular code reviews from a reliability perspective, and generally being a nice guy to work with.In 2019 I joined CPA Global as a full-stack software engineer to build and maintain their long-running FoundationIP intellectual property management system. This primarily involved Java 8 and SQL development along with front end wrok using AngularJS, Angular, Bootstrap and other tech. A large portion of my work included building and maintaining integrations with other systems using various REST APIs, AWS SQS queues, and other technologies. During my time at CPA Global we worked on moving from self-run VMs to AWS as well.In my spare time I love to bike around the Twin Cities and build side-project apps to play with data exposed via APIs from my favorite social networks and online games.I'm always looking for new opportunities to grow as a software engineer and technologist. In particular, I'm looking for opportunities to use my broad experience to improve ongoing development and maintenance of forward-looking SaaS projects.
