In early 2003, Philips stopped all its activities in Hasselt. Several business units were then closed. The electronics production activities were taken over by the American Jabil Circuit. The content of my job remained the same. After almost 2 years working with them as a consultant, I started working directly for Philips Remote Control System in Leuven. I became a member of their Product Manufacturing Group.My tasks: design, construct and deploy product testing tools for quality control during the production of new high end remote controls in factories at different locations. With Randstad Professionals I worked as a consultant for the pre-development department at Philips Remote Control Systems in Leuven. This product oriented business division was an OEM manufacturer of infrared remote controls. With focus on creating fully customized products and producing them in its factories all over the world. My tasks: research on new technologies in the product pre-development phase, creating a IR-code data acquisition program, benchmarking the competition. All this in close collaboration with product development and production departments in Belgium, Portugal, Indonesia and Mexico.Projects: * Development of a data acquisition tool to capture and generate an infrared signal communication * Market study of infrared control code protocols in use by the competition * Creation of a universal infrared control code database

With this producer of inspection systems for the semiconductor industry I designed innovative, execution time optimized software for embedded machine vision and optical inspection. My tasks: analyzing the requirements, drawing up specifications, planning the execution of the programming work, developing, producing and testing the software, writing documentation while also maintaining and updating previous versions of the software. All of this in collaboration with team members and other departments.
