I have worked at the same high school for the past 5 years as an Algebra Teacher. I have experience teaching Finite math, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. I have administered and prepared for NWEA, ISTEP+, ECA, and helped with remediation in all categories. Curriculum mapping is all aligned with Indiana Common Core State Standards as are presented on the Indiana DOE website. I am a licensed teacher until my renewal in 2022, having graduated in 2013 from Indiana University Bloomington. As I have taught this past 5 years I have learned more about E-Learning and incorporating technology into the classroom as our school recently became 1-to-1 students to laptop. Integrating technology such as Desmos Graphing tool, Geometer Sketchpad, Google Classroom, Study Island among others has become something more accessible since our school corporation did this. My classroom is very much based on student involvement. They need to take hold of their learning in order to understand it. Even if we are working with pencil and paper the students are the ones who are in control. Therefore it is important to have parent involvement for support. Every now and then you get reluctant students who do not care to take hold of their learning and this is where I will get the parents on board. All things we do in class are accessible online which parents seem to love! I even have parents on Remind, and they are getting the same updates that my students are getting. Parents are always involved. I have experience with reverse teaching as well. This is where I will assign the lesson as homework; a video (such as Kahn Academy is really helpful) or a website that the students can visit at home. Then when they come into class I can assign the homework there in class. This allows me to get one on one time with students who struggle and students like it because they leave my class without "homework".
