About Erik Lim

Founder and General Partner of Potluck Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in the next generation of breakout AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) founders. Our mission is to unify and uplevel the Asian community through intentional venture investing and community building. Since our launch in 2022, we've invested in 16 companies.I am also an active real estate agent, investor, and developer in Los Angeles. I invest my own capital as well as work with clients to buy/sell, invest, and manage properties. On the development front, I've partnered with two experienced real estate operators to lead ground-up multifamily development projects across Los Angeles.Prior to jumping into entrepreneurship, I was an investment professional at Fifth Wall ($3B+ AUM), the largest global venture capital firm focused on investing in technologies for the real estate industry. LPs consisted of 100+ of the largest real estate owners, operators, and developers that span across 15 countries. I primarily invested in growth-stage technology companies that benefited from Fifth Wall's unique ability to unlock distribution and/or commercial partnerships with the firm’s network of Strategic LPs/Corporates. In 2021, we were fortunate to have 6 IPOs. Prior to Fifth Wall, I invested at JMI Equity ($8B+ AUM software growth equity) and AXA Venture Partners ($1.5B+ AUM technology growth equity). On the side, I also personally invest in companies that focus on important topics and/or embody values that I'm passionate about, including mental health, future of work, real estate/investing, and democratization. Some of my current personal investments include OpenAI, Canva, AngelList, Foresight Mental Health, Nabis, The Dyrt, Boostcamp, Sweater, OnsiteIQ, Copper, and Cubbo.During my downtime, I'm actively involved with non-profits AAAIM and Gold House which have a shared mission of elevating the AAPI community. On a sunny day, you'll find me hiking, running, or playing Spikeball with friends at the beach. I'm starting to play tennis again after “retiring” after competing for 13 years on the USTA Junior Circuit and 4 years for Men’s Varsity team at Johns Hopkins University.erik@potluck.vc
