About Erik Kremers

I am involved in mechatronic system design, since 1997. It started with design of sub-modules, but soon this shifted to system design and integration. During integration all disciplines of mechatronics come together and well chosen concepts pay off. The learning curve during integration is very steep. Most projects which I have carried out are in the semi-conductor and printing industry. At the end-assignment of my MSc. Mechatronic Design, I was introduced to robotics. Especially the position dependant dynamics are intriguing. Other mechatronic systems of interest are high precision stages. During my career I have worked with a three axis planar stage (< 1 um) and a six axis H-drive master-slave stage (< 5 nm). Nice aspects of mechatronic system design are the contact with multi-disciplinary project teams, contact with customers, challenge/verifying specifications and defining a system which in the end meets the specifications.Specialties: Mechatronic system design; motion control (varying from single axis systems to multi-axis robotics and stages); dynamic behavior of driven systems; robotics; simulation of (dynamic) systems to predict early phase system feasiblity.
