Favourite work:Task design in automated, intelligent systems;Explaining AI in work environment, culture and personal lives; Human Factors in Software and data applications;Analysis and Design of Control Centres;Risks and Safety issues where humans are in control;Coaching and teaching software designers/builders.I've been working in this area for over 30 years now, it never bores me. Probably because I'm always in for learning. Fascinated by new and old technologies; how these penetrate - or rather "sneak into" - our working environment, culture and human minds.Very interesting are the Human Factors of safety while working with autonomous machines. Humans can only cooperate and control systems as far as they understand the machine's behaviour.In relation to this I successfully followed the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) "PHILOSOPHY OF TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN" of P.P. Verbeek et al, University of Twente.The personal interest for these issues originate also from my background in physics and electronics. Fascinating to understand how physical bits in a semiconductor (chip) result in artificial intelligence when massive amounts of bits are loaded with algorithms and data. And to a higher level this technology is shaping our living and society, including ethical issues.
