I am affiliated with the International & Security Policy Group, and I have worked with the Center for Global Risk and Security (CGRS) and Project Air Force.Within CGRS:- assessed the value of social media as tools for collaborative research and analysis- studied the development of Activity Based Intelligence (ABI) and potential applications of Object Based Production (OBP)- analyzed threats to the global commons (e.g. climate change, pandemics, water scarcity) and potential solutions- specified the emerging relevance of culture to foreign policy (see http://culturalsecurity.net/cs)Within Project Air Force:- assessed the potential for ABI in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR)- assessed the potential for ABI and OBP in Targeting Systems Analysis (TSA)With the office of the CTO:- assessed ranking algorithms and visualization techniques for searching academic literature- design and implementation of a social media and networking tool for cultural security (http://culturalsecurity.net/collage).

Cultural Security develops the role of cultural property in diplomacy and international security and provides art world intelligence by examining the significance of antiquities, artworks, religious monuments, and historic structures to hard and soft power in foreign policy.CulturalSecurity.net supports four ares of study:- Political Economy of Cultural Property: assessed “cultural power” in foreign policy from reactive protection to proactive exploitation of cultural property.- Cultural Property Index: developed indicators to track, and potentially anticipate, the power of cultural property in diplomacy, foreign policy, and international security.- Framework for Cultural Intelligence: designed a system for analyzing the tactical and strategic roles of artworks, antiquities, and monuments in international affairs.- Art World Intelligence: integrated data from the art market with foreign affairs for security intelligence on the hard, soft, and alternative power of cultural. Art World Intelligence (AWI) (www.artworldintel.com) analyzes risk in art trading as a function of security threats to cultural property. AWI compares sales of artworks and events in international affairs to provide cultural intelligence on the political economy of the art market.Cultural intelligence informs:- financial, political, and ethical decisions on the acquisition of artworks (fine art, antiquities, tribal art...)- foreign policy on the strategic value of cultural property (artworks, historic structures, religious monuments...).

The Getty Research Institute produces unique databases for research in the fields of art history, provenance, and architecture. My responsibilities included:• design and implement algorithms for parsing data formats and analyzing database composition• statistical analyses of production and integrity of data for administrative reports• database-user surveys to determine the perceived value of specialized metadata• innovations in production within the infrastructure of Web 2.0 and the Semantic Web• presentations on findings at association meetings of the information industry in the humanities and sciences

Risk Assessment – country analysis for banking and insurance: Exclusive Analysis, London• open source analysis of news media and journals for Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands• event tracking of terrorism, politics (e.g. austerity measures), and civil unrest (e.g. labor protests)• produced monthly assessments to predict political stability and risk of terrorism and civil unrest.Analysis – Internet fraud: Investigative Group International, Washington, D.C.• consulted on a case of web sites suspected of fraudulent business practices in the United States• selected and managed a group of experts to provide knowledge on the investigation of illicit web sites • traced the suspect URLs to domain names and web server locations for registration information• published the findings, "Who's Pulling the Data Strings?"
