• Develop federal energy efficient lighting standards and test procedures for luminaires, light sources and lighting control systems. (Client: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory / U.S. Department of Energy)• Lead research and development of a novel daylight harvesting lighting control system. (Client: California Energy Commission / Energy Innovations Small Grant Program)• Design and manage large-scale, multi-year laboratory evaluations of CFL and LED life and performance. (Client: California Public Utilities Commission)• Develop test procedures for LED off-grid lighting systems. Provide training to laboratories in Africa and Asia on newly developed test methods. (Client: International Finance Corporation / World Bank)• Evaluate Asian-market CFL quality and performance and Asian CFL programs. (Client: Eco-Asia / USAID)• Provide oversight of utility evaluation, measurement and verification activities for lighting programs including residential, commercial and industrial programs involving a wide variety of lighting technologies. (Client: California Public Utilities Commission)• Perform international Mapping and Benchmarking evaluations of lighting technologies including General Lighting Service (GLS) lamps and linear fluorescent lamps. (Client: CLASP)

Provide overall management and direction for all active projects; provide technical guidance, support, oversight and supervision to all project managers; manage, coordinate and balance resources (staff and facilities) to effectively complete funded projects; lead business development efforts including successfully responding to public solicitations (RFPs) and building and maintaining relationships with key clients; develop project proposals, including work statements and budgets; assist Directors in establishing and adjusting near, mid and long-term strategic plans; manage, prepare and present research results to funders and others; maintain regular communication with manufacturing partners, utilities, and state agencies on existing and proposed activities; coordinate research activities with California Utilities, including personal interaction with Emerging Technology Directors at PG&E, SCE, SDG&E and SMUD.

Provided day-to-day management of the Lighting Fixtures Laboratory; served as Principal Investigator on multiple lighting research projects; led successful proposals for Department of Energy (DOE) research projects; led team effort to successfully respond to public solicitations (RFPs); produced technical reports on experimental work, developed prototype designs and performed testing of new energy efficient lighting fixtures; worked directly with industry partners on industrial and utility demonstrations to accelerate compact fluorescent acceptance in the residential market; responsible for experimental design, calibration, and maintenance of photometric facilities; extensive involvement in the design, programming and testing of gonio-photometer apparatus for photometric analysis lighting fixtures.
