About Erik Salzwedel

Erik Salzwedel has been the Bass Trombonist of the Winston-Salem and Greensboro symphonies since 1986 and has toured and performed with the North Carolina Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Camel City Jazz Orchestra, Halcyon Brass Quartet (founding member), the Wachovia Brass Collegium (founder), and many other ensembles all over North Carolina. He has had the privilege of performing with Leonard Bernstein, Itzhak Perlman, André Watts, Renee Fleming, Yo-Yo Ma, Dimitri Sitkovetsky, Doc Severinsen, Chris Thile, Mark O'Connor, Bela Fleck, Dan & Chris Brubeck, Chris Murrell, Joe Williams, Ray Charles, the Moody Blues, Charlie Pride, Glen Campbell, Tony Bennett, and Bob Hope, to name a very few. Erik is the Business Manager of the Moravian Music Foundation, dealing with finance, concert and event planning and management, fundraising and communications. For Festivals, and during the pandemic, he has developed his skills in audio and video production. He designs, manages, and creates content for the Foundation and Festival websites. Erik Salzwedel is a prolific composer and arranger of sacred music for brass, organ, and handbells. While the majority of his compositions are for solo instrument with accompaniment, he has also written for brass ensembles and concert band.
