The company had performed poorly for many years and needed to undergo a drastic overhaul. My brief when I started was restructuring of the business to ensure a solid financial business model. I was also tasked to build a commercially focused finance department and improve client management through proper analysis of profitability and resource utilisation.Specific actions include 400k of cost cutting measures (office closures, rent re-negotiations, staff reductions, work-from-home schemes, closure of nonviable business lines and re-negotiation of supplier and customer terms), while ensuring retained staff were kept motivated. Helped improve revenue by changing sales incentive scheme encouraging cross divisional sales. Built a pricing tool and price matrix for a ground-breaking new cloud based service. Ensured thorough, reoccurring commercial analysis of the client database, (GM, resource requirements and payment history). Prepared (with the MD and the Board) an IPO to find additional funding for further expansion. -
Interim Cfo NordicsDigipos Store Solutions/Better Capital Feb 2012 - Feb 2013The company offers point of sales hardware and software to retail businesses with a global scope and was acquired by the private equity firm Better Capital (founded by Jon Moulton) in 2011. The company was in need of an overhaul of its organisation and I was hired to come up with a plan to improve the performance of the Nordic subsidiary. This business area had in the last few years suffered from poor EBITDA performance.To turn around the performance I re-organized the region (closed local offices in marginal markets [Norway and Finland], re-allocated key roles to Stockholm where the MD was located), in cooperation with the warehouse manager we changed the criteria for what needed to be stocked locally vs centrally, which enabled DSI to improve by 21%.

It was the most profitable subsidiary within the group during my time at company.My brief was to reform the Finance department in so that it added tangible value by being pro-active and better integrated with the rest of the organisation. The existing vs required skills of the team was mapped and I put in place training to reform the team. I successfully outsourced non-core staff to SSC in Portugal (and later on to India) while keeping key resources retained and motivated. I massively improved the month end process, delivering the management reports in half the time required by HQ, (we had by far the fastest reporting cycling within The Carphone Warehouse/Best Buy Group), and I was asked to support and guide other subsidiaries how to achieve this improvement. -

They grew through an M&A strategy and as a consequence had a business area [BA] that did not fully fit with the overall long term goal. Besides being Business Controller of two BAs in need of improved internal processes, I was tasked to find a buyer of the aforementioned non-core BA and to initiate a due diligence process. I identified, presented and negotiated with 3 possible buyers of the non-core business and successfully managed the due diligence processes in connection of the sale. The transition of the BA to the new owner was smooth and without any issues. -
