As part of IIG’s Architecture Team, my main job is to negotiate the long-term goals of IIG as a whole to develop a thriving and interoperable product landscape, and the competing interests of the individual product teams to predominantly focus on their products. My main tasks are to develop guidelines and to provide guidance, so that the long-term value of IIG’s product portfolio is maximized. The main focus in this activity is on SOA aspects, with IIG's strategic goal to develop a RESTful SOA, where products can be used and reused and recombined easily.

At Berkeley's School of Information, I taught courses on Web Architecture, Mobile Applications, and select technical topics. I also provided technical guidance to students in their final projects, which often were interdisciplinary in nature.

The Information and Service Design (ISD) program was established at UC Berkeley's School of Information in 2007 to provide a focus for teaching and research on the skills and concepts required by a service-led and information-powered economy. Our major activities include: * The ISD program runs a Clinic where students gain hands on experience in information service design and consultant practice. * The ISD program has research initiatives in mobile and location-based services, and systems that facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among professional communities. * The ISD program works to advance service research by hosting a lecture series, organizing an annual symposium, and by hosting visiting scholars. The ISD program also encourages collaboration with other academic, nonprofit, and commercial partners.

At the School of Information, I taught courses on Web Architecture, Mobile Applications, and select technical topics. I also provided technical guidance to students in their final projects, which often were interdisciplinary in nature.

I provided consulting and professional education services for major companies in Switzerland. The focus was on Web Architecture and Web Technologies, and customers were several major Swiss corporations as well as federal and state agencies.

At ETH Zürich, I taught courses on Web Architecture and select technical topics. I also proposed and managed a project that built a university-wide platform for managing and sharing bibliographical references across research groups and disciplines.

As part pf my post-doctoral year at ICSI, I researched extensively in the area of established and developing Web Technologies, and the published what back then was the first and only available book covering Web Architecture comprehensively. While the Springer-published "Wilde's World Wide Web" is now out of print and of course outdated, there are still surprisingly many parts in it that even after one and a half decade have remained stable, such as the Internet foundations, HTTP basics, and even the fundamental aspects of how SGML and HTML are used to represent Web content.

My main responsibility was to take the main product of the company and, using various cross-compilation steps, make it available on a variety of Unix-based platforms.

My main tasks were to help in various large research projects, often contributing to research reports such as surveys, and also helping with software development in various projects. The project I spent most time with was DAPHNE, an SGML-based document processing platform that was intended to support document sharing across organizations. My main task was to help extending DAPHNE to also cover mathematical formulae, and I designed an SGML vocabulary for this, and then developed a mapping for the underlying TeX/LaTeX formatting engine.
