Profile bio

About Erik Wullschleger

I worked at a bar that was a stone's throw from the Husker Stadium and a total blast during the fall. I started dating one of the other bartenders there and I could tell we would be better off if one of us left...so I did (and 3 years later she became my wife).I decided I was tired of paying for my cell phone bill and put my resume into the hands of the manager at the local Sprint Store. This was the best decision I could have made for my career as we eventually moved to Kansas City to pursue my wife's education goals. Kansas City also just so happened to be Sprint's headquarters and I immediately went to work with the goal of some day working in the corporate offices!I really started to dig into Kansas City and found a lot of inspiration in the entrepreneurial community. In April of 2013, a short personal trip to Portland would turn into the foundations of the Sprint Accelerator, an entrepreneurial and innovation center located in the heart of KC. We opened our doors in January of 2014 and welcomed 50 entrepreneurs from all over the world in March. Wild rides often tend to open up new doors and I found myself volunteering some of my free time with a new effort in KC with the mission of making our city more appealing to Millennials. In August of 2014 I joined LiveKC officially and led an awesome team to create unbelievable experiences, bonding the next generation with the community of Kansas City.In 2017 I was given the opportunity to join WeWork. As a part of this growing, global community workspace, our small team is responsible for creating the most remarkable places to work in Columbus, Detroit, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and St. Louis.I spent a lot of time in those cities. I walked through buildings with developers and explored the neighborhoods during my downtime. In every city I found a canvas of buildings being transformed by visionaries. I was back in Kansas City when Vince Bryant walked into WeWork showing a client what we'd done with the 3rd floor of the Corrigan Station building. He went on to explain all of the cool shit he was working on in the Crossroads Neighborhood I had come to love. I unexpectedly blurted out "I want to be you when I grow up" and he responded "why don't you just come work with me?"That flippant comment turned into a couple months of conversation and eventually a real opportunity. I'm living a literal dream daily while learning at a pace I haven't ever experienced!

My primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:1) understanding the marketplace and more specifically, our target market/base customer as they interact with their phone and slowly work up an appetite for more and more stuff they can do with it.2) communicating these needs to product/business development managers to ensure we have the right capabilities and hardware specs on our road map.3) work back with my marketing peers so they understand the value proposition of the capabilities on our road map so they can effectively communicate those to the marketplace in combination with the core benefits of the Sprint networkIt's a great place to be and will continue developing as customers slowly figure out all of the cool stuff they can do with the phone/other connected devices that will always have within an arm's reach!
