In the role of Manager, Campaigns, Erin is focused on wildlife campaigns primarily in western Canada, but nationally as well.

An experienced science communicator specializing in wildlife welfare within the BC SPCA’s Science & Policy team. Areas of focus include urban wildlife, human-wildlife co-existence, wildlife rehabilitation, exotic animals, wildlife and “pest” control. Responsible for province-wide planning, development and maintenance of wild animal welfare content for research, education and advocacy to an audience of more than 8.4 million website visits and 200,000 social media followers. Responsible for the development and implementation of province-wide policies and training materials related to wild animal welfare for more than 570 staff across 43 locations. Leads digital fundraising initiatives for the BC SPCA’s Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC), bringing in more than $150,000. Coordinates research partnerships and collaborations with UBC’s Animal Welfare Program and other institutions through the BC SPCA’s Animal Welfare Committee. Co-developer of the BC SPCA’s AnimalKind accreditation program for wildlife & rodent control, and dog training companies. Provides training and presentations to internal and external audiences at conferences, meetings, events and symposiums.

APBI 415: Applied Animal Behaviour (Dr. Kristen Walker)Supported undergraduate students to develop hypotheses, ethograms, methods, and materials to implement their own animal behaviour observation study. Responsible for evaluating and providing feedback on student papers, and grading final research presentations and projects. Course focused on the application of principles and research methods of animal behaviour to practical problems in the care of farm, companion, wild, and research animals, and in animal training and human-wildlife conflict.
