– I was responsible for all of the embroidery files associated with custom orders. A cut sheet would be delivered with an art proof attached. It was up to me to take the digital version of the art through three different computer programs in order to end up with files the embroidery machines could read and then embroider on finished goods. If the files were not right in some way (not optimized for embroidery, wouldn’t end up showing what art proof showed, wasn’t the correct size to fit on the finished garment, or wasn’t laid out per the order notes), it was often up to me to determine how to fix the issue and instruct the graphics department on the required fixes. Sometimes this involved going back and forth several times to get it right due to the complexity of the design.– I was also responsible for digitizing names. This involved changing files made by the graphics department into stitch files. Sometimes, I had to manually change the stitch direction for each letter, as well as other tweaks to the lettering including orientation, sizing, thickness, and stitch density to ensure the final product was to standard– I was also responsible for cutting all of the twill, much like custom patches, for these orders. This involved using the Ioline cutting machine and software. At peak time, this could involve 30 different orders in one day, and cutting up to 200 two and 3 color twill appliques in a day.– I was also responsible for making sure that the orders were staged properly based on quantity, difficulty of design, and workforce available. This required knowing my employees strengths and being able to schedule accordingly. This staging process was normally done once a day, as rush orders would take precedence, but could often be changed 2 and 3 times a day, depending on demand.– At peak time, I managed a room of 5, and organized for a night shift of 7.

In addition to employing my skills as an alteration specialist directly, I was also responsible for scheduling myself, and 3 other employees who worked directly below me. Scheduling involved being aware of the hours allotted to the alterations department based on our sales, and then determining which employee to assign the hours to based on both their availability, and the work that needed to be completed that week. I was additionally responsible for filling out financial documentation per corporate standards. Any customer service issue in the alterations department was under my purview as well.

I worked directly with brides properly fitting their dresses by assessing how best to take in or let out often very delicate fabrics. I was also involved in actually sewing the alterations. I conducted customer pickup appointments, answering any questions from the bride about their dress, as well as how to do their bustle. To be effective in this position, I received many hours of corporate training.

I oversaw the design of bags and tool pallets, more often than not custom in nature, for a variety of different industries. Frequently the bags needed to be a very specific size in order to fit foam inserts, as well as meet rigid safety and quality standards. My involvement in the process would go from a very simple sample request all the way to the beginning of production, going through several changes per the customer’s input. I would also adjust pre-existing patterns and markers to better suit current production needs.

I was responsible for making all the fabric markers for all the custom and standard suits, while being mindful to lessen the fabric usage as much as possible. Once the marker was made, I was also responsible for cutting all the custom suits using a computer based Lectra cutting machine. I would do the same for the all the standard suits.

I made calls to pre-existing customers to renew their Sirius Radio subscriptions. I moved between a customer database, a radio subscription catalog, and a pre-written script all while talking to a new customer every ten to fifteen minutes.

I provided finished construction sewing for mattress topper covers, mattress covers, conjured pillow covers, and vinyl children's furniture covers. In the course of my work, I used patterning skills with extreme attention to detail, as there was very little forgiveness in working with vinyl.

I processed weekly shipments which included stocking shelves as well as display assembly. I filled in as a cashier when the store was busy. As Lead Cashier, I assisted in answering customer questions at check out, trained new employees on the registers, and performed minimal managerial functions such as cash drops, returns, and exchanges. As Store Set Up Lead, I was in charge of a small group, usually two or three other employees, who traveled to the other area stores and carried out their new shelf set up. This happened four times a year and would usually take a day or two per store. To perform this task, I had to read and decipher detailed product maps specified by Home Office and insure that the team set up all the shelves per these maps.

I assisted in class (beginning sewing and pattern making) as well as conducted open labs.
