In school they try to teach you how to hone your thought process as well as design. We were given examples through history and taught certain rules. Then we were thrust out into the world. A world which is vastly different than the one within the hallowed halls of our institutions.In a short time working I like to think of myself as a "jack of all trades". I've learned the reality of design and building through a very small firm where one can be needed for anything. I have learned to do a little bit of everything starting from site measuring up to shop drawing reviews, and CA drawings.Although the two worlds of education and the profession are so different; right now I still strive to find a harmony. The free thought and creativity of school and the strict and sometimes mundane tasks of the firm.
