I began making art after observing my three-year-old son play with toy blocks and subsequently learning about the history of kindergarten and its influence on modern art and design of the 20th century. In my artistic practice, I investigate themes of art, design, and play. My role as a mother and my background in architecture and design influence this practice. Geometric form, color, and grid structure are foundational ideas for my work. My art incorporates paper and upcycled packaging into mixed-media abstract collages. I harness play and fun in all of my creative pursuits!I am a 2025 Visual Arts Fellowship Recipient from the Alabama State Council on the Arts. I have also been awarded an Individual Artist Career Opportunity Grant from South Arts, a nonprofit regional arts organization, for my upcoming exhibition at Frank Lloyd Wright's Rosenbaum House in my hometown of Florence, Alabama.

With eight years of experience, I returned to remotely manage the company’s blog with content development, writing, editing, and visual curation duties. Additional responsibilities included developing content for social media and creating a monthly subscription-based newsletter. I also supported the e-commerce team on the re-launch and re-platform of the website.

I worked closely with the executive director on the ideation and execution of projects to support the newly founded non-profit’s mission. This included exhibitions, artist projects, event planning, and outreach. Responsible for correspondence with our grant partners, I prepared budgets and organized financial paperwork and deliverables for grants. I developed, managed, and maintained the website and social media including content creation, writing, and visual curation.

In this role, I worked alongside the president and founder to maintain a company culture cohesive with our mission for our staff of over 20. I developed strategies in team management, set up and executed company processes and standards, supported vision writing and strategic planning, and cross-trained in HR and accounting. Working in this role has given me a sound understanding of the structure and day-to-day operations of a creative small business and also how to scale for growth.

In the media services director role, I led a three-person team that created and executed digital and print content. We oversaw product launches to support sales and marketing. The scope of launches included the photoshoot organization, image selection and editing, copywriting and editing, SEO, loading content, proofing, and archiving. I worked with website developers on e-commerce re-platforming by communicating UI/UX design updates. I supported the team for book launches, packaging design, fashion lookbooks, and other creative marketing and sales materials. Other aspects of media services included graphic design, press outreach, and blog and social media management.Overseeing special projects, I worked with the creative director on the ideation and execution of a wide range of projects. These include management of a 7-acre cotton field—from sourcing the seed to creating finished garments with the raw material; overseeing the renovation of a 5,000 sq ft industrial building and transforming it into a retail space, café, and kitchen; off-site art exhibition installation; preparing materials for design collaborations; and supporting the creative execution of design projects.

I worked under the guidance of both an architect and an art director, contributing to a range of creative and technical projects. Responsibilities included designing storefront and interior graphics, as well as visual layouts for boutique clothing stores, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing brand identity.Creating detailed construction templates for promotional merchandise, aiding in the accurate and efficient production of branded items. Developing advertisements, mailers, and flyers for store events and company mailings. Collaborating with vendors and suppliers to custom design and order both interior and exterior furnishings and decor, ensuring high-quality and tailored solutions for our clients.
