The past 24 years journey has taken me from an ARFF firefighter/Paramedic to critical care RN to BSN educator and now into life coaching. I use the Oola framework, a proven system that empowers individuals to create a lifestyle of more balance, less stress and greater purpose in seven key areas of life. My coaching and mentoring enables one to determine where they are today, where they want to go, and design how they want to get there. It's specific and unique to the individual seeking guidance for transformation.As an experienced critical care nurse with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and health care industry within the Pediatric ER, PICU, NICU and adult ICU, I have been skilled in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Healthcare Information Technology (HIT), and Acute Care. Today I focus on caring for the caregivers.My mission is to help critical care nurses on the brink of burnout find rest and peace so they can rediscover and reignite the passions in their lives. To empower them to include themselves in the labors of care and create whole life balance. Enabling them to fill their emptiness with self love and gratitude so they can continue to serve others well.The ANA Nursing Code of Ethics (2015) deems whole life balance essential to our well-being both in our professional lives as nurses, and our personal lives. The interpretive statement, 5.2 Promotion of Personal Health, Safety, and Well-Being states:“As professionals who assess, intervene, evaluate, protect, promote, advocate, educate, and conduct research for the health and safety of others and society, nurses have a duty to take the same care for their own health and safety…Fatigue and compassion fatigue affect a nurse’s professional performance and personal life. To mitigate these effects, nurses should eat a health diet, exercise, get sufficient rest, maintain family and personal relationships, engage in adequate leisure and recreational activities, and attend to spiritual or religious needs. These activities and satisfying work must be held in balance to promote and maintain their own health and well-being. Nurses in all roles should seek this balance, and it is the responsibility of nurse leaders to foster this balance within their organizations (American Nurses Association, 2015).” I'm here to breathe life back into our nurses!
