Responsible for maintaining inpatient nursing services to comply with the regulatory and accreditation requirements such as The Joint Commission (TJC) and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and in compliance with legislative requirements such as the Health Information Patient Privacy Act (HIPPA). As a transformational leader, inspires the team to work towards the organization’s vision and strategic plan and fully implements the organization’s professional nursing practice model. Responsible for creating and maintaining a framework for achieving the organization’s strategic goals of Magnet designation and Medical Home recognition. Departments to include Inpatient Services: Emergency, Intensive Care Unit, Medical/Surgical, Float Pool, House Supervisors, Inpatient Case Management. Clinical Oversight Departments: Inpatient Obstetrics, Operating Room, Post-Anesthesia Care

Directly supervises 1 Assistant Nurse Supervisor, 1 Clinical Coach, 31 Registered Nurses, 5 Scrub Technicians, 2 Nursing Assistants and 6 Medical Support Assistants for a unit that performs between 50-70 deliveries/month and estimated 650 deliveries/year. Successfully achieved World Health Organization Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative designation in May 2013 and was active in the task force from the initiation, development and end stage of the 12 steps. Between 2013 and to present, worked closely with the Human Resources department in the successful recruitment and retention of 11 Registered nurse vacancies to 2 Registered nurse vacancies as of July 2017.Ensure departmental and staff compliance/competencies of The Joint Commission (TJC), Center of Medicaid Services (CMS), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Association of Women's Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN), and American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG)

* Inpatient Case Management - includes triage, intake assessments, identifying treatment plan and discharge planning.* Collects data and information through observation, examination, review of medical records, discharge follow-up and consultation with other health care professionals.* Participates in orientation of new employees and trains staff on new procedures. Educates new staff on policies and identification gaps in care coordinationLevel 1 obstetrical unit that provides care to high-risk obstetrical patients (36 weeks and above) * Elected representative for the obstetrical unit in the Council of Nurses (CON) * Acts as charge nurse when assigned and performs charge nurse duties.* Provide direct patient care to Alaskan Native and Native American population with varying levels of acuity.* Problem solved issues as they arise, interacted with physicians and other health care professionals as appropriate.* Able to function with high level of experience and quality in such areas as triage, labor and delivery, postpartum, operating room and nursery.
