As a family run business since 1964, Morkin and Sowards has served the Structural Steel Fabricating needs of the local community as well as jobs as far North as the Upper Peninsula and Southern States. As an Administrative Assistant to the Company President initially filling in during vacations and when needed while the full time Assistant wasn't available, while attending college and also working my other part time jobs I handled the basic office roles. I would answer phones and take messages for employees while they were on other calls or out of the office on other jobs. I would also handle faxes as they came through, and check the company email for possible bid invitations or correspondence that needed attention and make sure it was forwarded to the correct party. As time went on and the Administrative Assistant retired the Company President went on to handle many of the office roles. I did however step in when possible to attempt to assist with staffing needs when necessary as well as office supply purchasing and creating documents as needed for the office.
