Erin Ferris, Phd is a Dog Trainer and Professor at Springfield College. Colleagues describe them as "I have worked with Erin for over a decade both as faculty members teaching in the classroom as well as partners in the Faculty Senate. In both circumstances, Erin has been professional, laser-focused on detail, and a pleasure to work with. Her attention to detail led the Faculty Senate on a pursuit for the financial well-being of our institution. She worked tirelessly to compile information and write flawless reports. While serving on committees, she has always had insightful and thoughtful suggestions for the betterment of the school and the success of all students, faculty, and staff. Her ability to create and maintain relationships with all on campus is unmatched. Her can-do attitude and her cheerfulness are cherished by all who meet her, me included. Erin is passionate about working with and for students. Before COVID, when I saw her in the hallway, she was always followed by an entourage of students. She is well-liked not only because of her personality and her teaching style, but because she is a fervent believer in student engagement and success. In her classes, she teaches research methods with real-life exercises. Students, in many cases, want to continue the research even after classes have ended. For her Anthropology courses, I would encounter her elbow-deep at the school raised beds making sure the dig-site was perfect. Furthermore, Erin and I served as co-advisors for the Gay-Straight Alliance, were she engaged students, organized events, and promoted a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff. I have always admired her advocacy for a more inclusive, equitable, and unprejudiced campus. Erin is a bright star in her field. She is driven, passionate, and an outstanding colleague. "
