About Erin Nimetz

Currently I am an educator in the state of Texas at Iowa Park High School and recently resigned my Adjunct Faculty position at the Wichita Falls campus of Wayland Baptist University. I teach many subjects in the science field as I am under a composite certification. My true love and passion however is Biology. I have a MS in Biology and did my research focusing on a look at the post cranial osteological differences/similarities between the Ocelot and the Bobcat. I love field research and would eventually like to expand my career into higher education or researching in this type of environment. For now, I truly enjoy teaching my students the fundamentals of science, the basics of research and sparking an interest in analytical thought that they may not have known was there previously.

I was working full time at the time at Iowa Park High School, and trying to take care of a growing family while taking graduate courses at MSU. Through the birth of my first two children, the death of my brother and his entire family in a plane crash in August of 2006, a divorce in 2007, multiple back surgeries, a remarriage and the birth of my third child, graduate school just took slightly longer for me to accomplish than most! Thankfully MSU, and my professors, worked with me to accomplish my goals, and those were certainly accomplished. I was able to take two courses (in separate years) of Tropical Rainforest Ecology in Panama during this stay at MSU as a graduate student, and during the summer term prior to my graduation, I worked as a Graduate Field Research Assistant and was paid a stipend to gathering data pertaining to my thesis. During this time, I was able to travel to San Angelo State University, and The University Of New Mexico to gather Ocelot data for my thesis research.
