Provided technical leadership and guidance to the global, regional and field offices for the design, initiation, and implementation of health and nutrition programs for maternal and child survival. Served as the lead health technical backstop for the Food for Peace Development Food Assistance Program in Ethiopia and for a Randomized Control Trial Study Examining the Impact of Treating Maternal Depression on Child Stunting in rural Uganda, funded by the Eleanor Crook Foundation. Responsible for writing the technical health portions of numerous multi-million dollar USAID Food for Peace, DFID, and privately funded project proposals. Designed multi-sector program activities and research studies, including the creation of protocols, ethics review board applications, staffing structures, consultant contracts, timelines, and monitoring systems. Supported project evaluation and writing of project reports to donors. Ensured that health and nutrition programmatic approaches are aligned to countries strategies, congruent with internationally-accepted guidelines and recommendations, are designed with a clear Theory of Change, and are implemented according to work plans, budgets, and donor regulations. Developed health education materials, including adaptation of Care Group modules based on formative research and writing maternal and child health and nutrition portions of a Health Essentials Manual for training field staff globally.Provided on-site and remote technical support to field staff in East Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America in the areas of maternal, and child health and nutrition and in grants acquisition and program management. Led formative research studies in the field, including designing, leading, and analyzing focus group discussions, Local Determinants of Malnutrition Surveys, and barrier analyses. Co-chair the CORE Group Working Group on Social Behavior Change and directed the global Caregiver Mental Health Knowledge Sharing Series.
