From the very beginning, stories have driven human to do things.I am only a human, and I love stories. I love making up them in my head, but I am also very good at telling them through visual medias.Hi, I'm Erin Ruth, Illustrator and Motion Artist currently based in Jakarta. I love textures and saturated colours.My love of story started from my Dad's habits of talking to me while driving. He'd talk about everything, I'd response with gibberish, and as I grew older, I talk about everything to him too.I also learn I like drawing, and I like drawings that tell story.That led me to majoring in Visual Communication Design. In my academic years, I was pushed to try working with multiple medias and collaborate with fellow students. After trials and errors, I decided to specialise in illustration and 2d motion graphics). My favourite illustration work was a children book that I authored and illustrated for a class I attend on my senior year. It was challenging because it was my first time not collaborating to create a story and its visuals. "Poppy (and Grandpa's) Potluck Bread" was a fun exploration, and by far one of my best works.My favourite motion graphics/animation work would be a personal project. It was a study case of David Stumpf's works, which was ANIFILM 2020 trailer. I have been posting some sneak-peeks on my LinkedIn posts and included it on my 2024 Showreel, and I cannot wait to show you the final version !My favourite story genre is slice-of-life. That's why when I'm not working, you'd see me doing groceries, meal-prepping, going to the gym, and hanging out with my aunties and niece. Doing mundane things might be boring, but it helps me to be in the moment. And moments that you experience fully always create better stories.
