I see strength as an innate characteristic in all people. I also understand that it can be difficult to see that strength within ourselves in times of hardship and pain. It can be incredibly challenging to explore the most vulnerable parts of our being; our innermost thoughts and feelings. I believe that this work can begin in a non-judgemental, safe and supportive environment that empowers individuals to make the positive changes needed to live happy and fulfilled lives. I believe the key to successful therapy is developing strong therapeutic relationships with my clients rooted in empathy, trust, mutual respect, and understanding.I provide individual counselling in various different areas including but not limited to; depression, anxiety, guilt/shame, self-worth, self-discovery and exploration, self-esteem, stress, grief, body-image, eating disorders and trauma. I utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy), along with other researched and evidence- based approaches to counselling. I also provide couples counselling, and am currently working to complete certification with Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Utilizing both Gottman and Emotion-Focused Therapy, I take a research based approach to creating stronger, healthier relationships. I seek to understand my clients’ experiences through their eyes, while utilizing an eclectic approach to therapy. Each client is different, and therefore counselling will vary for each individual. I understand that therapy is a big commitment, and therefore finding a therapist that fits with you is of the utmost importance.
