And details matter….a lot.I am currently a full-time teacher of English, TX History, and Home Ec. I spend my days educating my students (ages 11-18) on the workings of the English language, communication, history, and cooking. It is quite the diverse teaching load, and it keeps life interesting!When I’m not in “work-mode,” I am in “mom-mode” raising my three precious children (ages 1, 8, and 10). Our family moved across town a couple years ago, so we now spend our free time outside in our *almost* 1-acre yard, working towards a garden and a handful of chickens. We like playing country right here in the big city.Growing up, my Daddy always told me, “Erin Elizabeth, you’ve got a talent…someday you’re gonna write. And you’re gonna teach others how to write too.” As a teenager, that was the last thing I wanted to hear. But there’s a lot to be said about the wisdom of a good father. They usually know what they are talking about. Mine sure did.I love my job. There aren’t many teachers left, it seems, who can say they love their job. But I can. I get to spend my days with some of the coolest people on this planet, watching them learn, fail, grow, and develop into amazing individuals. Furthermore, I am blessed to work side-by-side with some outstanding coworkers. The past few years have proved difficult for the world of education (Covid, social issues, administrative expectations, etc.), and many teachers have lost their spark along the way, feeling as if they no longer have a place in this community. I have a knack for listening to others and creating camaraderie and a sense of belonging. In fact, my most treasured compliments come from my coworkers when they tell me how I have provided sunshine to their days and thank me for my friendship.While teaching is 100% my calling and not one I plan on leaving, it is also time for me to step a little further into the world of writing and editing. Since I am a “beginner” per se, I am very interested in getting some experience under my belt with some smaller projects that other, more experienced editors may not be interested in. Summer break is coming up for me, so this is the perfect time for us to connect!
