As Community Fundraiser at St Cuthbert’s Hospice I have cultivated relationships with supporters of the Hospice, providing fundraising stewardship and advice. Alongside this I am responsible for a number of community campaigns, including working heavily with local schools to engage them with the Hospice and fundraising. As part of my role within the Community and Events Team I am also responsible for organising/assisting with some Hospice-led events such as the Hospice’s annual Christmas Fair and Christmas Tree Recycling. As part of my role, I also have experience of leading large numbers of community volunteers. A varied and rewarding role working closely with the local community.

In this role I enjoyed stepping up into a management role, improving my people management and communication skills. The role involved opening and closing the store, ensuring safe and legal trading, setting weekly rotas and delegating tasks to team members all to keep the store running smoothly.

As Student Ambassadors I gained much experience interacting with the public during open days and campus tours. I also had the chance to work with under 18s on a residential summer school, ensuring that a busy schedule was stuck to while also safeguarding the needs of the children attending.
