Utilized 40 CFR 141 and 142 as well as AZ State Statues to determine a Public Water System’s compliance. Assisted Public Water Systems with compliance via outreach, training events, and providing guidance on compliance of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Created Standard Works on many daily/monthly/yearly activities. Analyzed drinking water contaminant results and assisted systems returning to compliance after exceeding the Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL). Worked to radically simplify and improve our process, templates, reports, and outreach to assist Public Water Systems with compliance. Worked on a project to prevent future Arsenic MCL exceedances. Developed and submitted a primacy package to EPA for the Arsenic Rule.

As a contractor and consultant I employed ESRI’s ArcGIS and AutoCAD programs in order to create and edit land surveys and maps for use in environmental technical reports. I created maps that modeled topographic, geologic, and hydrologic features. I collected and validated attribute data as well as maintained geodatabases for site areas. Frequently, I digitized and georeferenced components such as baseball and soccer fields, rivers and streams, and water infiltration systems. In addition, I analyzed geologic, hydrogeologic, and geochemical data in order to create statistical models.

Fort Huachuca, Az

The Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) program is a core element of the Army's Sustainable Range Program. The primary objective of ITAM is to ensure that all Army training lands are available for sustained perpetual use by providing a comprehensive approach to land management, and is based on the integration of military mission, natural resources stewardship, and environmental compliance.At the Fort Huachuca post I use ESRI's ArcGIS to create, maintain, and analyze GIS data for the ITAM and Range and Training Land Management (RTLA) agendas through the U.S. Army's Sustainable Range Program (SRP). Preform geospatial analyses to build surface danger safety zones for new U.S. Army training ranges and artillery zones and to assess and plan land repair. Requires knowledge of endangered and threatened species in the Fort Huachuca, AZ area in order to plan land training and remediation. The maps I create are used by U.S. Army departments and soldiers in planning training and land use operations.

Over the course of five years I established myself as an expert in managing the Radiogenic Helium Dating Lab, covering all tasks including the administration of the lab (maintaining inventory, working directly with customers and data management) in addition to training staff and managing work schedules. I also worked in the technical arena, conducting sampling (including (U-TH)/He dating) and other tests as needed. Another critical function of my work in the lab was maintaining important safety standards in discharging radioactive and hazardous materials per OSHA and state regulations. This work has allowed me to contribute to the community of practice through technical reports, journal articles and manuscripts. One of the most exiting projects was collaborating to develop a textbook titled Thermochronology & Geochronology, which is due to be published in October of this year.

Field work in this position required me to follow EPA standard operating procedures in using compressed air-driven bladder pumps, mechanic bladder pumps, and peristaltic bladder pumps in collected samples of groundwater from existing wells. I completed well-rounded sample collection by measuring groundwater levels and obtaining sediment samples using a Geoprobe, then preparing them for lab analysis. I also used a spectrophotometer to measure sulfate, sulfide, and nitrate concentrations.Aside from working with existing wells, I also observed the initial installation of new groundwater wells. The result of my work was compiled into formal reports, which I authored, and submitted to DOE for inspection and publication.

In this cross-disciplinary role, I coordinated lab experiments in subjects including biology, chemistry, and physics. It was critical for me to develop relationships with the class-specific professors in order to gather the correct supplies and set the lab in good working order for students. I also maintained a very safe and efficient workspace.From an administrative standpoint, I was also in charge of the professional development of staff through training and mentoring.

For this technical research role I prepared and evaluated field oxygen and carbon isotope data in order to inform paleoenvironmental interpretations. I also conducted petrographic analyses on sedimentary thin sections, in addition to work completing a significant microscopic sediment analysis on 132 cm long wet lake core at 2 cm intervals.
