I was born in Japan, spent a few years in LA during early childhood, interned at the UN Sri Lanka on a full scholarship, and started my career in Thailand. Now in Canada to settle because it’s something that I have never done before. Despite my eccentric background I am quite an easy going and soft-spoken person as past employers described me. I am just good at stumbling on opportunities and working hard on seizing them. Procurement found me 5+ years ago and now I run the purchasing and logistics department for a flooring company. I have been able to apply my education in real estate, construction and project management + experience in purchasing, supply chain management and logistics, in this role.I have always been a people person and love to make meaningful connections.Working closely with vendors, trades, brokers, and colleagues in other departments and building relationships has always been my strength. Share information, help each other, making improvements so that it would be easier for the partners is something I find rewarding.Previously, I had global Fortune 500 companies as clients, and coordinated the purchasing and logistics of the new projects which accounted for the top sales clients of the branch. Specialised products were electronics, adhesive (room temp and frozen), dangerous goods, zinc etc.During this time, I worked with the accounting department to negotiate cost down of warehouse fees, and implemented milk run for cost reduction on transportation by 15%.Currently, I run the entire department mainly myself, support the accounting department, executive assistance, showroom support and more!
