Hello! I’m Erin Poppe. Most people just call me Poppe (“poppy,” like the flower!)I’m passionate about serving Government Leaders because my parents taught me to value community service. Growing up, I watched and worked alongside them at events for countless organizations; like Soroptimist, Habitat For Humanity, and United Way. Even as a child, I always admired my parents’ consideration for the needs of our neighbors.I also paid attention to the challenges that came from working in a large bureaucracy. Getting staff engaged in their work is tough when there are so many moving parts to coordinate! I channeled these experiences into my education, which eventually led me to earning a master’s in public administration. It was in that graduate program that I started to connect how strengths development can meet the organizational needs of Government Leaders. As an Organizational Development Consultant at 34 Strong, I serve as a utility player for our team and Government clients. I wear a lot of hats and I love them all! From executive coaching to management training to wellbeing webinars, each provides opportunities to help people share their stories and strengths in ways that create tangible solutions and success. My best days at work are when I get to witness the “ah-ha!” moments people experience when owning what makes them great. In those moments of service, I feel like I’m helping to fulfill my parents’ dreams!Check out 34STRONG.COM or shoot me a quick message on here if you’re curious to learn how we can help you hit your workplace development goals. I’m so excited to meet you!---PS - I also own and operate As You Are Photography, which captures and communicates the positive impact of nonprofits through Natural Photography. I love helping people feel seen and comfortable in their uniqueness!

And there are a few key ones that spring to mind:• Empathy, patience, respect and tolerance will serve you well in heated situations.• Be efficient and focused. Don't let the same mistake happen twice.• Your team's success is your success. Do what you can to help make sure everyone is operating at their best level.Skills leveraged: Communication, crisis management, customer service, and team building. -
Editor In Chief, Royal Purple YearbookCollegian Media Group May 2012 - May 2013Manhattan, KansasWhen I took over as the Royal Purple's editor in chief, the publication was failing. Sales had been steadily decreasing for the past decade and our Board of Directors were wondering if they should just cut their losses. I pushed back and bargained for one year to make the Royal Purple viable again. If I couldn't rise to the challenge, they could get rid of it. They agreed to let me try, and in doing so enabled me to:• Manage production of 360-page annual publication with staff of 10 students, plus several freelance writers and photographers.• Facilitate a two-person marketing team that increased sales by 300 percent within the first three months of operations, which directly correlated with my ground-level sales strategy used during Orientation and Enrollment – Kansas State University's two-week, on-campus registration event.• Develop marketing strategies that encouraged a deeper buy-in from consumers (i.e., I ended our reliance on traditional yearbook trends, like individual portraits, for ventures that would evoke a sense of community, like organizational group photos).• Collaborate on content creation and page design, as well as participated in board meetings that included an assortment of alumni, local business owners and faculty.Skills leveraged: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, advertising, consulting, content development, content development, crisis management, deadline management, design, editing, event planning and management, facilitation, journalism, leadership, marketing, newsroom management, photography, staff training, team building and writing. -
