In my role as Project Development Engineer for Strategic Projects, I have been deeply involved in advancing the Gladstone Green Ammonia Project, a greenfield development with planned green hydrogen offtake from CQH2. Additionally, I am responsible for managing relationships with start-ups and researchers to evaluate opportunities for developing and deploying innovative low-emission technologies within the company’s current and future operations. This includes developing business cases and strategies for technology integration, facilitating strategic partnerships, and advancing the adoption of new technologies.

In my role as a Strategy Analyst, I led the annual strategy process and M&A portfolio, collaborating closely with the executive team to shape the fertiliser business’s strategic direction. I used data-driven insights to address complex and dynamic business challenges with consideration to both the fertiliser manufacturing assets and distribution network. However, I was also committed to influencing the company’s direction in line with my personal values, which included transitioning to a low-carbon future while balancing economic risks. Additionally, I focused on developing solutions that not only drove business outcomes but also created an environment where employees felt engaged and enthusiastic about our shared objectives. Key highlights included:▪ M&A Leadership: Led due diligence processes and developed financial / valuation models for acquisitions, managing external stakeholders and developing comprehensive business cases for board approval. ▪ Strategic Planning: Developed and implemented business strategies, both short and long term, by collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to drive sustainable growth.▪ Strategic Implementation and Process Optimisation: Led and facilitated workshops to align teams on strategic priorities to improve the delivery of targeted business growth. COMPANY OVERVIEWAnoxKaldnes AB is a subset of Veolia Water Technologies based in Lund, Sweden, focusing on the research, development and implementation of the MBBR (moving bed biofilm reactor) biological wastewater treatment technology. Through the use of this technology, the company has also has divisions dedicated to biogas process expertise, biopolymer production as well as accredited laboratory and microscopy services. AnoxKaldnes provides solutions for industries stretching from mining and minerals to chemicals/pharmaceuticals, farming, oil & gas and municipal services. POSITION DESCIRPTIONThe short-term position was specifically designed to complete the requirements for a Masters in Chemical Engineering. The role was situated in AnoxKaldnes's biopolymers unit where the team focused on the development and optimization of PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) production from waste sources. Individually, the position aimed to design and construct a reactor environment to test operating parameters and ultimately provide recommendations for process improvement. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACHIEVEMENTS- Performed preliminary investigations into the fate and kinetics of calcium in activated sludge systems treating paper mill effluent- Designed and constructed two lab scale reactors and selected and tracked key performance indicators- Successfully delivered a detailed review and analysis on the effects of pH, alkalinity production and hydraulic retention time and other operating parameters on the precipitation of calcium in activated sludge systems and using MBBR technologies.- Thesis detailed recommendations for a lean approach to the PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) production process. This was in relation to potential methods of calcium removal from PHA accumulating organisms via the alteration of system parameters so to improve system performance and biopolymer mechanical characteristics

COMPANY OVERVIEW Wastewater Futures is a specialist wastewater technology company that provides services through the use of expert laboratory facilities. In alignment with this, Wastewater Futures provides innovative technologies to clients and in addition, designs laboratory and pilot scale studies for proof of concept alongside consulting work. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS- Assisted in the maintenance, monitoring, design and construction of a small pilot plant treating shale oil process water. Pilot plant consisted of a stripper, moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), membrane bioreactor (MBR) and granular activated carbon (GAC) column.- Aided in the implementation and construction of a programmable logic controller (PLC) system.- Performed ion exchange studies to evaluate an efficient means of colour removal to compare against the GAC column. This included a more in depth resin-pH study, evaluating which combinations are most effective.
