I am a Project Director for SEA (STEMM Equity Achievement) Change at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). SEA Change is a comprehensive initiative that implements a proven self-assessment and action planning process to effect sustainable change with regard to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in STEMM at U.S. institutions of higher education. My responsibilities include directing the SEA Change Institute courses and trainings, managing the SEA Change Community engagement and content calendar, and creating the strategic communications plan for the initiative.I earned my Ph.D. from Georgetown University in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology, researching novel chemotherapeutic treatments for the pediatric cancer Ewing sarcoma. I organized and co-founded the first graduate student group in STEM focused on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Georgetown WISE is now an award-winning organization and has helped shape university policies to foster diversity and inclusion across the main and medical campuses. I was also selected as student fellow with the Georgetown Women’s Alliance.I have been a tutor for Washington DC area high school students with Tungsten Prep since 2017, with the goal of making their STEM education experience meaningful and welcoming. I provide academic support in AP Biology, general biology, AP Chemistry, general chemistry, anatomy & physiology, and algebra, and provide executive function and organizational support for college-bound student-athletes.From 2019-2021, I served as a member of the Inclusion & Equity committee for the American Association of University Women.
