Writing tutor for the Allied Health Senior Seminar class. Meet with students during online tutoring sessions via Skype and GoogleDocs, assisting them with the final project for their major during the Spring 2013 semester. This is part of a pilot program for a larger online tutoring program at CSE, proposed and developed by me, and currently supported through the Educational Opportunity Fund Office.

Act as writing tutor for students in the EOF summer program as they prepare for the upcoming academic year. Work with participating faculty and administrators to ensure that students receive the academic support they need as they transition from high school to college. Assist students with critical thinking essays and other writing assignments, and help Peer Assistants maintain order/discipline in computer labs during evening study sessions.

Maintain AccuTrack database for CASC records. Proctor summer placement testing as needed. Help Director and Assistant Director with special projects and yearly statistics reports.

Assisted Risa Gorelick during her daily Basic Writing class. Ran writing lab for 1.25 hours directly after class. Activities varied during lab time, but included reinforcing class lessons, supervising peer/group workshops, one-on-one workshops with each student, and assisting students with writing processes.

Assisted two CUNY professors with research and other tasks as needed throughout the academic year.

Assisted in the grading of student papers for the freshman-level business class, “The Ground Floor.” Read through approximately 45 student papers each week of roughly two to three pages, commenting electronically on students’ organization, argumentative logic, use of grammar and other mechanics. Occasional in-class time with students and supervising professor to address common errors and present tips for better writing. Developed handouts and materials to aid students in improving writing skills.
