I want to make the world a better place. A better place to live, to work, to play, and to simply exist. Have I figured out exactly how I aim to do this? Not exactly, but you bet I am trying my best and I am committed to bettering myself in the process. As a recent graduate of Iowa State University I received my degree in public relations with minors in both world film studies and women's and gender studies. Kind of a strange combination, am I right? But I love it. I love learning and practicing how communication between organizations and their publics can create a more inclusive and kind world. The experiences I had the blessing to participate in at Iowa State have all helped me gain more skills and learn how to be a professional in the working world. Let me tell you a bit about those experiences: 📖 I have been published in the on-campus magazine, Ethos, during my very first semester. This early experience helped me to distinguish whether journalism or public relations was my passion, while gaining practical skills like interviewing and writing on a deadline.💻 I was a marketing and social media intern for the Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support (ACCESS) in Ames, Iowa. I created five posts a week for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter highlighting the shelter initiatives and social justice campaigns, along with general self-care posts. 📝 During one of my last semesters at Iowa State, a blog post I had written about my experience navigating change in the time of COVID-19 was published by ISU's Greenlee School. 📚 The classes I took at ISU highlighted hard skills such as marketing, communications through mass media, writing press releases, creating social media campaigns, studying multicultural film media, embracing social justice issues, and so much more. As I venture out into the professional world, I cannot wait to enter the workforce in a time where the world needs more people devoted to changing society for the better. I am currently interested in entry level positions where I can utilize my strengths and really feel like I am making a difference every day.
