I am a counselling therapist (MEd, CCC, RCT), certified music therapist (BMus, MTA, FAMI), and Clinical Traumatologist in private practice. I have advanced training in using music & imagery as psychotherapy and for wellness. I specialize in working with adults with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative responses to trauma in my private practice. I completed my MEd in Counselling (agency stream) at Acadia University. I offer an integrated approach to working with trauma including CBT, ACT, MET, AEDP, Ego State Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH trained), music and imagery, and EMDR. Most recently I have completed training to offer psychedelic assisted psychotherapy in research settings. For 15 years, I was a permanent part-time employee (music therapist) of Central Zone Nova Scotia Health Authority in various settings, notably for a decade on the acute palliative medicine unit at the VG. During my time at NSHA I demonstrated the effectiveness of music therapy and through collaboration with health services managers and physicians created the two permanent, unionized music therapy positions that exist in the central zone. I have served as President of the Atlantic Association for Music Therapy, as well as Ethics Chair for the Association for Music and Imagery. I am an assistant trainer and senior supervisor through the Institute for Music & Consciousness for those studying music & imagery methods on Dr. Lisa Summer's Continuum Model of GIM.
