As an award-winning documentary filmmaker, I have spent over 15 years crafting compelling narratives, both independently and for renowned companies like Lucasfilm, National Geographic Explorer, and PBS. My first feature-length documentary, From Baghdad to The Bay, garnered critical acclaim, winning seven awards, including the Jury Award for Best Documentary at Cinequest and the Best Film, Programmer's Award for Excellence at OUTshine Miami.I served as the director of photography and consulting producer for 5 Blocks, a feature-length documentary that explores the revitalization efforts in San Francisco’s Central Market Street neighborhood. In addition, I produced and was the director of photography for the Oakland Originals documentary shorts series. This project was featured at Oakland's historic Grand Lake Theater, where the shorts were showcased before feature films, reaching an audience of over 24,000 moviegoers during the summer of 2014.My journey as a filmmaker began with my first short documentary, BDSM: It’s Not What You Think!. The film was conceived as a student film project for an innovative interdisciplinary course at San Francisco State University (SFSU). Bringing together public health and cinema students, the class was designed to wed the power of digital filmmaking with the cause of social justice. The film premiered at Frameline32 Film Festival in 2008, where it received critical acclaim.
