Sr. Climate Scientist & Director Of Strategic PartnershipsBrisa Resilience Mar 2023 - Oct 2024Kearny, New Jersey, UsSIG provides comprehensive program management to communities & corporates via performance-based stormwater programs and private program financing. By incorporating contracting mechanisms that (1) provide a short-term funding source to achieve long-term goals and (2) contractually tie SIG's compensation to achieving measurable KPIs, such as stormwater volume reductions, flood risk reductions, regulatory compliance, maintenance standards, and/or water quality improvements, you can:• Source the funding required to accelerate larger capital improvements or retrofits in the short term, while ensuring the long-term effectiveness of the solutions we implement. • Borrow upfront capital to make the necessary improvements, while budgeting for a smaller monthly or annual repayment for the next several years, thus improving budget management and predictability.• Capitalize on transferring programmatic (and performance) risk to the financial and operational partner.• Enable adaptive management to optimize system performance in future through ongoing monitoring and performance tracking via innovative technologies. Performance-based contracts shift the focus from reactive repairs and maintenance to proactive management and long-term sustainability. It encourages contractors and service providers to meet specific targets, such as reduced flood risk or improved water quality. As a result, it promotes early detection and resolution of issues, thereby minimizing the risk of expensive infrastructure failures and optimizing the system’s functionality. The entirety of our existence is based on our ability to provide you with exceptional service via stormwater- and resilience-related infrastructure programs that function exactly as designed for decades to come. -
Career TransitionCareer Break Dec 2022 - Feb 2023Over the past 7 years, StormSensor created a team that is driven to change the world, that will do anything to achieve our vision, that will work around the clock together to make sure we succeed in solving a very large and very difficult problem that affects every person on the planet. The company's Board of Directors appointed a new CEO in November; I resigned shortly thereafter to give him and the board the space to do what they feel they need to do.I will be forever grateful for the experiences we shared: the hard times and the magical, the solutions we created, the relationships we built, both within and outside StormSensor.I will always look back at these years as some of the proudest of my life, as a representation that we CAN achieve our dreams, we CAN reach the impossible. We can come out of nowhere and—because of our love and our dedication and our creativity (curiosity, unity, courage, and integrity!)—become recognized across the globe for our achievements, and the highest-funded water startup 2021.We earned contracts with extraordinary organizations: some of the largest and best transit agencies in the world, and small towns willing to take a bet on us to save their communities. And they were right. But! Everything is temporary. And everything we do now, and experience now, can lead to something extraordinary in the future, even if we can’t see it today.I am taking a moment to reflect and recover between roles, and I am excited to see what's next.
