As Director of Institutional Investor Relations and the head of BFA’s Claims Filing Team, I lead institutional investor outreach, advise pension funds and other entities on current and potential cases, and assist those entities in recovering investment losses through the filing of settlement claim forms.

As a former securities litigator at Labaton Sucharow LLP, I worked with GCG on large and complex settlements, providing the background and knowledge base necessary to fully understand clients’ settlement administration needs and to provide valuable and cost-effective solutions.

Prosecuted securities fraud class actions involving misrepresentations regarding oil and mining corporate venture cost and safety, mutual funds investments, and consulting company accounting. Key accomplishments include: • Managed teams of up to 30 project-specific attorneys; determined the facts most relevant to the case, created strategy, and assigned projects so attorneys expeditiously glean the best evidence from the documents. • Participated in the mediation of three cases, each of which resulted in a successful settlement. • Researched and drafted sections of briefs for appeals currently pending in the Second and Ninth Circuits. • Prepared senior partner for Ninth Circuit oral argument and participated in argument as second chair.

Drafted memoranda, court orders and opinions after reviewing submitted documents and conducting legal research. Discussed cases with the Judge after attending trials, oral arguments, status meetings and settlement conferences.

Analyzed co-existing contracts effective for both Columbia House, Inc. and BMG Direct, Inc. entered into prior to their merger and integrated terms into new contracts acceptable to all parties. Reviewed draft direct marketing materials to confirm federal and state compliance. Incorporated Columbia House, Inc. and BMG Direct, Inc. document retention policies into single mutually acceptable policy.

Provided all aspects of support for the Washington, D.C. Litigation Group, including work on cases concerning contract disputes, real estate, employment, and death penalty issues. Second-seated depositions with senior partner. Conducted discovery, created privilege logs, compiled deposition exhibits. Located and reviewed documents and drafted segments of brief for pro bono death penalty appeal.
